What is HTML
Hypertext Markup Language, a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, color, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages.

This really just means that HTML is a formatting language. It tells browsers how to lay out and display the content on the page. Access to basic HTML gives you greater control over the appearance of your pages. Learning HTML is like learning how to hit the bold button or insert an image or a text box in Word.
