Your Account

Canvas permits you to modify several settings for your account. Please review the Profile and User Settings guide for more detailed information. For an overview, here is a short tutorial video:

Setting Notifications

In this video you will learn about Notification Preferences, which help you manage the frequency and mode in which you receive notifications from Canvas.

Updating & Adding Email addresses

Your default email address is used as your main contact method in Canvas and is added when creating your Canvas account. Email addresses are used to create Canvas notifications; they are not used as a contact method for other Canvas users.
Email preferences are found under the Account icon - then Settings.

If you add another email address as a contact method, you can change your default email address in Canvas.

Pro Tip:

Student Email: The default student email in Canvas is the primary email address listed in MyRED. Students cannot remove that email address. In Canvas, however, students can add an additional email address and mark that additional email address as preferred.
